About

I started working construction the year after high school. I began as a roofer and an apprentice carpenter in Laguna Beach, then moved to Lake Tahoe. My craft has sent me to many locations around the world, including building treehouses in Japan at the Permaculture Center Kamiomi.

My interest in transcendental meditation led me to join the staff at MIU (Maharishi International University). There I learned the exquisite skill of building in curves (in constructing geodesic domes as big as football fields, for men and women to achieve world peace through meditation).

Jump ahead 20 years, and I’m building treehouses for children in Austin with James Talbot, as well as conventional construction and straw bale green building projects.

My aesthetic inspiration: mountain homes and traditional Japanese architecture.

My eco/ethical inspiration: the 1960s consciousness movements.

I’m in the process of completing my third personal home. I’ve also erected a windmill for a client and am building livable tree houses for adults in Paige/Smithville, Texas as well as creative door and gate entrances, garden structures, and custom stairs.

Plans in the works: I will be building a personal treehouses in Hawaii, another in Costa Rica, an Eco center for Priithviraj Das in the Himalayan foothills, and a Gypsy Wagon (tiny house) in Paige/Smithville.

In other news, my team and I are organizing a series of workshops in Austin, Montana and Hawaii. The workshops include yoga and breathwork, and will focus on developing your building skills. After this series, you’ll have everything you need to build intergalactic constructions of your own! For details on the Austin offerings, click here.
